The GRCOP is a group of twelve dancers from Paris Opera Ballet founded by Jacques Garnier in 1981.
Favoring the contemporary creation, the GRCOP invites des choreographers confirmed as Paul Taylor, Merce Cunningham, Karole Armitage, Lucinda Childs, and young French designers like Regine Chopinot, Maguy Marin, Francois Verret, Karine Saporta et Philippe Decouflé, to create original works for classically trained dancers with contemporary aspirations.
Fulfilling a mission of openness within theParis Opera, the GRCOP was only maintained for eight years for work to raise awareness of dance, practiced both on stage and in neighborhoods, schools, Metro.

The GRCOP from 1981 to 1989:
27 dancers including 13 women and 14 men.
27Choreographers including 12 women and 15 men.

16 Scenographers, visual artists, painters, dressmakers, costume designers.
19 Contemporary dance teachers.
200 Shows per year .
